I just didn't bother with the whole studying thing and concentrated on my scripts and such. In fact I barely went to school at all for my final two years, I'd just stay home and read and write and... err... hang out with my stoner mates. The way I saw it, GCSEs are hardly important - so long as I did well enough to get into college my GCSE results wouldn't matter (as everyone would then look at my A Levels). It was kind of the wrong attitude to have, but luckily I managed to get all As at GCSE anyhow, despite not doing any work :|
As everyone else says though, if you think it's hard now then wait til you get a job. I resigned from my job at a well-known-but-really-bad TV channel because I just wasn't getting anywhere with my films anymore. Growing up, like, sucks dude.
